What is Buttock Lift / Thigh Lift
Buttock Lift is a type of plastic surgery to remove excess fat and loose skin in the buttocks region. A thigh lift is intended to lift and reshape thigh skin that is unattractively saggy and dimpled.
Many candidates for a thigh lift procedure have excess skin as a result of weight loss, or simply because of the natural effects of aging. A thigh lift procedure removes excess fat and skin from the inner and outer thighs to create a tighter, firmer, more toned thigh appearance.
Who is the best canditate for Buttock Lift / Thigh Lift?
The thigh/ buttock lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that combines the thigh lift and buttock lift. This procedure works improving the contour of the lower body area, which consists of the thighs and buttocks.
It is recommended for people who are unsatisfied with their current lower body appearance that might look saggy, flabby or dimpled. People might be motivated by the interest of having a more attractive appearance or to correct loss of skin elasticity and shape caused by weight loss, aging, hormonal changes or lack of exercise.
Prior to thigh lift and buttock lift, it is important to be healthy and avoid taking medications that could increase bleeding, such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements. Also, the patient should not have medical conditions that could interfere in the surgery or healing process, preferably be a non-smoker and have realistic expectations about the procedure.
Anesthesia
The thigh lift and buttock lift can use intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. In case of general Anesthesia, you will sleep through the entire operation.
If the option is intravenous sedation, sedatives will be injected to help you relax. The best anesthesia method depends on your individual case and what your doctor is recommending. You will decide with him what is better for you.
Intended results of Buttock Lift / Thigh Lift
Improvements of self-confidence and lower body appearance, making the contours look tighter and softer. Some improvement can already be seen after swelling and bruising subsides, about a month following thigh lift and buttock lift. However, final results might take up to a year to be seen.
Buttock Lift / Thigh Lift Procedure Description
The thigh lift and buttock lift is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis unless otherwise advised by the surgeon. A surgeon will show you what a thigh lift and buttock lift can do to solve your particular problem.
Wide variations in the design of the incisions to meet clothing or personal desires are possible. Lifting the inner thighs requires only short incisions extending from the anterior part of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease. Lateral or anterior thigh lifts can be performed as separate procedures if desired.
Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (circumferential lower body lift) will require much longer incisions that start in the buttock crease, extend around the groin, up over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and across the back. The buttocks can be lifted with upper or lower scars.
Recovery and Healing After Buttock Lift / Thigh Lift
The patient is placed in a compression garment (similar to a long-line elastic support girdle) at the end of thigh lift and buttock lift to reduce swelling and assist in the natural shrinking and tightening of the skin.
Smaller thigh lifts: Initial discomfort is usually easily controlled with prescription pain medication.
Larger thigh lifts: One or two nights care in a skilled nursing facility or hospital are usually required. This allows for pain injections, intravenous catheters, etc.
Bruising and swelling usually subside within a month, strenuous activities are usually possible in 6 weeks and almost all symptoms are gone in 4 to 6 months.
Complimentary Procedures
Additional procedures that may enhance the result include Liposuction/Liposculpture, Breast Enlargement and Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty).
