On August 11, 1971, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Farid Hakme founded a clinic of plastic surgery was opened under the name of Clínica Integrada, with 01 operating room and 03 bedrooms.
Dr. Hakme is considered a plastic surgery icon in Brazil. He is an alumni of Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, arguably the world’s most renowned plastic surgeon.
In 1984, Clínica Integrada became Clínica Interplástica, and its facilities were improved to hold 04 operating rooms and 12 apartments.
In the year 2006, Clínica Interplástica turned 35 years old, and right now it has 12 operating rooms and 21 suites. It is now known as Hospital da Plástica and it is exclusively dedicated to plastic surgery procedures.
Up to the present date, 35.000 patients have been submitted to surgical interventions at Hospital da Plástica and no cases of hospital infection have ever been reported. Surgeries carrying risks of contaminating patients are not performed at Hospital da Plástica.
It is the only clinic in Brazil to receive the Quality Award from the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgeons and it is in total conformity with the norms of the Sanitary Vigilance.
The clinic is often inspected by the Conselho Regional de Medicina (Regional Medical Counsel) – CRM, and it has always met the demands of the aforementioned medical entity.
All the required documents for the functioning of the clinic are regularly updated within legal patterns.
12 operating rooms, fully equipped with state-of-the-art anesthesia devices, all electronic and digital.
Every room holds automated electronic surgical tables and 03 surgical spotlights.
They are all equipped with cold light, fiber optical retractors, electronic scalpels, liposuction vibrating aspirators with electronic suction.
Hospital da Plástica, abiding by the Health Ministry norms, through Sanitary Vigilance, possesses a 4-bed Post-Anesthesia Recovery Room (Sala de Recuperação Pós Anestésica RPA), fully equipped.
It is the only hospital to offer, without additional cost, the use of Laser Co2 and Erbium, and all the equipment necessary to perform surgical laparoscopy endoscopy. A specialized team of Hospital da Plástica is available to assist surgeons at any time.
In realizing that transferring critically ill patients to other hospital units could slow down the emergency medical assistance, Hospital da Plástica decided to build a well-equipped ICU for post-operatory emergencies.
A team of intensivist doctors (specialized in ICU assistance) is on duty 24 hours a day ready for any emergency that might apppear. Doctors on duty at ICU regularly check and perform examinations on every patient by the time of both their admission and their discharge. Doctors pay regular visits to patients in the post-operatory period, which ensures a high-level of safety.
The Hospital da Plástica Intensive Care Unit – ICU, together with their intensivists are under the supervision of Dr. Marcelo Vieira Gomes, MD, who performed this activity for 16 years at Clínica São Vicente, a reference hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Hospital da Plástica has 22 suites, each one with supporting services such as oxygen exits and central air compressor, electronic beds with remote control, cable TV, air conditioner, and a small fridge. No additional cost is charged to those who are accompanying patients, and to whom meals and comfortable facilities are offered.
Visiting hours are without restriction, whereas none are imposed by the medical staff.
Patients are constantly monitored by nurses as they return to their room after surgery.
Hospital da Plástica holds a complete Hospital Pharmacy with a register from Sanitary Vigilance, having an accredited pharmacist responsible for its optimum performance.
The Sterilization Center works with two autoclaves which have capacity to hold 250 liters. All the required sterilization tests are carried out as for example: autoclave test strips, chemical integrator, Bowie-Dick, and biological gauge.
Our laundry has the capacity of laundering up to 400 kg pieces/day.
Hospital da Plástica, built upon a 3.000m² site, has two free-of-charge parking lots to offer: one for its medical staff, and another for its patients, both with capacity for 100 vehicles.
It also offers a valet parking service and a team of security guards 24 hours a day.
